The Oregon Reading Association will again choose one school to represent Oregon for the
International Reading Association's Exemplary Reading Program Award

The Winning School will receive:
• $500 to use for a literacy project
• Lots of favorable publicity, both locally and statewide.
• Three paid registrations for the ORA Conference to be held February 6-7, 2009
• Free one-year ORA memberships or renewals for the ENTIRE certified staff and administrators.
• An invitation to present at the ORA State Conference, February 6-7, 2009 (not required).
• An invitation to present at the 54th IRA Annual Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota,
May 3-7, 2009 (not required).

Criteria:
• All public and private elementary and secondary schools are eligible if the school has at least one IRA member.
• The school must apply with its entire reading program, not just one segment, such as Title I, library/media.
• The application form must be signed by the chief school officer; e.g., the superintendent.

• The winning program should serve as a model for other schools and teachers.
