The Oregon Reading Association will again choose
one school to represent Oregon for the
International Reading Association's Exemplary
Reading Program Award
The Winning School will receive:
$500 to use for a literacy project
Lots of favorable publicity, both locally and statewide.
• Three paid registrations for the ORA Conference to be held February
6-7, 2009
• Free one-year ORA memberships or renewals for the ENTIRE certified
staff and administrators.
An invitation to present at the ORA State Conference, February
6-7, 2009 (not required).
An invitation to present at the 54th IRA Annual Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota,
May 3-7, 2009 (not required).
Criteria:
All public
and private elementary and secondary schools are eligible if the school
has at least one IRA member.
The school must apply with its entire reading program, not just
one segment, such as Title I, library/media.
The application form must be signed by the chief school officer;
e.g., the superintendent.
The winning program should serve as a model for other schools
and teachers.
