Launch 'Camp Rosenbaum Book Club' Campaign Goal: 600 new or gently used books donated by July 1, 2010 for at-risk, low income kids, age 9-11, who attend Camp Rosenbaum. The Oregon National Guard, Air Guard, Police, Fire Department, and the Oregon Housing Authority sponsor Camp Rosenbaum. Money or book donations welcome. Tuesday, October 20, 2009 from 4-6: Held at H. B. Lee Middle School, 1121 NE 172 Ave., Portland, OR, 503-255-5686. "Go With the Flow: Becoming Fluent Can Be Fun!" Come to experience the joy of choral reading, reading poems for two voices, and performing readers theater. It's fun and motivating! Handout of information on developing fluency and scripts for all ages. Presented by Karen Antikajian, language arts consultant.

the Gresham Borders Book Store. Come and see
the children’s picture books that have been nominated
for the Patricia Gallagher Children’s Book Award. Participants
will leave with teaching ideas to use with each book.

BUSINESS MEETINGS:
We
meet the second Monday of the month (September through June) from 4:30-6:00 pm at the Gresham
Borders. All
interested people are welcome. Come for coffee,
tea, and great conversations, as well as, the opportunity to help
promote literacy in East County: Sept 14, Oct 12, Nov 9, Dec 14, 2009 Jan 11, Feb 8, Mar 8, Apr 12, May 10 and June 14, 2010.
