Read Mary Palmer Nolan's winning poem about teachers - from Rogue Valley's Spring Poetry Contest.
October, 2009, 4:30-6:30 at McLoughlin Middle School or Oak Grove Elementary.
"Tips and Tea" with four to five speakers who will give 20 minute presentations and have handouts for teachers. Carol Fitzpatrick and Barbara Low are two of the speakers. Tea, cookies, and other snacks will be provided.
Saturday, December 12,
2009- Barnes and Noble Book Faire and Fundraiser- Coupons will be distributed to members and others so when they purchase a book a percentage will go to Rogue Valley Reading Council. The council will have a table for children to make bookmarks.
January,
2010: Bookmaking presented by Jenni Heroux. Time and place TBA

Other Events to Promote Literacy:
Patricia Gallagher Books: Four sets will be available to be loaned out.
RVRC Literacy Grants: We will have three available for members. Check with Kiernan Hodge for specifics
IRA Teacher's Choice Books: Barbara is the coordinator for the Western Region and will have teachers read and evaluate the books. In March the books will be distributed among those teachers and their schools.
Bookmark Contest: Maria Thorpe will coordinate this project and the board will do the final voting. The winners will be announced at the May Literacy Awards Dinner and copies of the winners' bookmarks will be distributed.
Teachers as Readers: Oak Grove will continue their program.
Business and Board
Meetings: Held at 4:00 on the first Wednesday of each month at Grilla Bites or 4 Daughters in downtown Medford. TBA. All interested people are invited. Join us to help promote literacy in Jackson and Josephine counties. Call a board member first to make sure the meeting hasn't been rescheduled.
